Question of the Week

Question for the week of March 13, 2000:

Our question this week comes from McDuk

I have been trying to get feedback from quilters who actually use the Flynn Multi Frame to do their machine quilting - is it really easy and helpful to use?

Kathy :
I got to try it at the annual Sew Expo in Puyallup WA two weeks ago. My frame is on order and I expect it in the mail any day now. I like the way the frame keeps the layers tight without basting. I always have trouble with basting. I expect to get lots of tops quilted on my own now once I get some practice. I think I will still send very large quilts out to my favorite longarm quilter, though.

Sue A :
I tried this frame on a demo site and loved it. I bought it and tried to use it at home. It was easy to put together and get my quilt parts put on. I had some trouble in that I kept trying to move my frame too fast, I broke a lot of needles before I finally took it off the frame and just quilted without it. One problem I had is that the "rollers" I purchased weren't long enough and my frame kept slipping off. I really like the idea though, and the frame itself seems well made. I'm definately going to give it another try.
FORBES :
I have not used my a great deal but I like it. If you ever get a sewing machine with a long neck, you would not have to change it as often.
Tanna Kinnaman :
For what it's worth, I found it to be cumbersome and difficult to use. I ended up selling mine on eBay.
