Question of the Week

Question for the week of January 10, 2000:

Our question this week comes from OneHarg

I have been quilting for years, I am very interested in teaching others how to quilt - where do I find the information to learn how to do this?

Jana Whitfield :
You may want to take some samples of your work into your local quilt or fabric shop to show them your talents. That would be where to start. Also community colleges and senior centers also sometimes offer these classes.

Helen :
First decide what you would want to learn if you were a beginner and make a quilt and lesson plan. Then go to fabric stores and see if they have a classroom and work with them as you will be an asset to them.
Maureen :
I would like to learn about teaching others also. Please share. My daughter and I are just beginning to teach a group and would appreciate info.
SO far, we have started with the Irish Chain, and the group is doing o.k.
I try to be myself, have a written itenerary, and let it flow. Preparation seems to be the key so far.
gaild516 :
The best way to share your expertise
with others is to join (or start) a
quilting guild. I'm sure your local
newspaper or yellow pages would direct
you, or the internet could supply
local guilds.
