I don't remember how I found this site, but am so excited about finding it.
I have been quilting for one year and taught myself. Designing quilt
patterns is the most exciting thing I have ever done. I can't wait to get
started on my new idea before I have finished quilting each one. I have one
finished top and one in the making at this time. To the lady with the 503A
Singer, I have a 403 Singer. Don't know if it's older or newer, but it sews
like a dream. Has all metal parts. I had to have it repaired because the
tension part was broken off during a move and the repairman told me it was a
very valuable sewing machine to replace. He said I'd probably never need to
replace it. I am learning so much just by coming here every day and reading
the postings. Thanks to Sue, we all have a common place to get our questions
answered. Hi Sue, I don't know you, but you are a cool person for making
this available.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the idea of keeping a journal, I have a feeling that you're right
about not giving ourselves enough credit for finishing projects. Just this
week I finished 2 small projects for gifts, that I know I won't remember a
month from now!
At guild this evening we're going to be turning a sweatshirt into an
embellished cardigan. I know it's not quilting, but it'll be fun I'm sure.
Keep quilting,
Susan

Subject: to tie

Shannon, I hear you asked what we use to tie a quilt. I use DMC embroidery floss - the six strand skeins. I find they don't mat up like yarn does with washing, and it glides through the fabric fairly easily.

Karen, thanks for the congrats. The kids had another rehearsal on Sunday, 250 kids in a stadium making beautiful music. Quite impressive a sound. Can't wait to hear 2000 of them! Was talking to our director the other day and he said he saw several quilt shops in Sydney. (His wife is a sewer.) I guess we actually have three days in Sydney to tour. So, I have already found another mom who will go shopping with me and she doesn't even sew! We may be having lessons on the sidelines.

Subject: 1/4" rule and kids

During this great harvest weather, I hurry with cleaning and apple pie baking
so I can quilt. (the men of the family do the harvest) :-) For those of you
who were looking for a 1/4' rule and ideas/patterns for kids, you may try
Clotilde either at 800-772-2891 or at www.clotilde.com. I'm sure they would
love to send you their catalog. I'm not connected with the company in any
way. I believe I've ordered from them a time or two. They sell many "tools
of the trade" - quilting trade that is. :-)

Subject: Computer Quilt Programs

From: kats

I was wondering if any one is using a computer quilt program for Mac? I
have been waiting for some time for Electric Quilt to come out with a Mac
version but to no avail. So wondered if anyother program is available?
We have a drawing program but I still can"t get it to design a whole
quilt. Thanks for your help and suggestions.
