This Block requires:

 one 3-1/2" of Fabric A
one 2" x at least 9" strip of Fabric B
one 2" x at least 9" strip of Fabric A
two 2" squares of Fabric B
four 2" squares of background fabric

 Piecing the Block

 1) Take the 2" wide strip of Fabric A and the 2" wide strip of Fabric B and sew together with a scant 1/4" seam allowance. Press the seam allowance toward the Fabric A strip.
 2) Straighten one of the narrow ends of the strips sewn together in Step 1. Cut four 2" wide rectangles from the sewn strips as shown. The completed rectangles should measure 2" x 3-1/2".
 3) On the wrong side of the two 2" squares of Fabric B, lightly mark a diagonal line as shown.
 4) Take the 3-1/2" square of Fabric A and one of the marked 2" squares of Fabric B and place, right sides together, with the diagonal line placed as shown. Sew carefully on the marked line.

5) Trim 1/4" away from the sewn diagonal line as shown. Press seam allowance toward the Fabric B diagonal corner.
 6) Take the unit completed in Step 5 and the remaining marked 2" square of Fabric B and place, right sides together, with the diagonal line placed as shown. Sew carefully on the marked diagonal line.

7) Trim 1/4" away from the sewn diagonal line as shown. Press seam allowance toward the Fabric B diagonal corner. The completed unit should measure 3-1/2" square.
 8) Take one of the rectangles completed in Step 2 and two of the 2" squares of background fabric and piece together as shown. Repeat with one more of the Step 2 rectangles and the two remaining 2" background squares. Press the seam allowances away from the background fabric squares. The completed Block rows should measure 2" x 6-1/2".
 9) Take the two remaining Step 2 rectangles and the unit completed in Step 7 and piece together as shown. Make sure that Step 2 units are placed as shown with the Fabric B squares matching the Fabric B diagonal corners. Press the seam allowances toward the Step 2 retangles. The completed row should measure 3-1/2" x 6-1/2".
 10) Piece the two rows completed in Step 8 with the row completed in Step 9 as shown to complete the Y Bridge quilt Block. Press the seam allowances toward the row completed in Step 9. The completed Block should measure 6-1/2" square which includes a 1/4" seam allowance on all sides.
