Subject: a hopefully basic embroidery question

Hi all. I feel dumb asking this question but here goes. I have the Bernina
designer embroidery software and am attempting my first digitized design
using autodigitizer. I scanned in a birth annoucement and put it into both
jpeg and bmp formats. I follow the procedure of opening a new file and
loading the picture into picture format. I do the art preparations
necessary, which are nil because I did them in Adobe Home Version of
Photoshop. Then I go to Design mode. I thought from here I could simply
select the whole thing and use autodigitizer, but not so. It's not
selectable. I thought that the magic wand is for doing a more manual
version whereby I'd select individual components, and the autodig. is more
automated. Am I doing something wrong? Seems like it'd be fairly easy to
digitize something like a birth annoucement; everything's one color. There
is text and a cute drawing. Thanks for your help, and since I'm trying to
do this today, please email me . - Karen

Subject: Off line stack up and PSP

Hi!
I've been off line almost a week learning all about Paint
Shop Pro 7.2 to use with my new Epson Photo Scanner for the
Artistia program with my Deco. I got caught up in the whole
process and haven't looked up for days. I've found designs
that will be wonderful for various people. Our DIL loves
strawberries and I've "bought" (I know that's a bad thing
for someone who sews to do, but) an apron in pale green to
put all sorts of strawberry designs on, from a short cake to
individual berries. I'm going to cover a lot of the apron
with strawberry designs and I've started to scan them in.
That ought to occupy me for a while.
I also found an accountant bear that I want to use on a new
nightshirt for my hubby. That I'll make, perhaps even
measure him in Dress Shop Pro if I can get him to stand
still. He's like a 2 year old about things like that.
Want to go right now to meet some quilting friends.
Colleen

Does anyone use the 'Amazing Designs' designs? How's the quality of the
designs? I purchased one recently & will try it out this weekend.

Hi Colleen,
(What a beautiful name!)
this is Erika from Austria.
Beside my quilting and embroidery time I'm eye catching with Dress Shop Pro
and I want ask you if you could tell me a little bit about it. How much is
it? Is it available in Europe? Do you work much with?
Thank you.

The stitchouts I've tried (cars, sports) from Amazing Designs were very
dense, lots of jumps. Not well digitized, IMHO.

I have had pretty good success with the Amazing Designs. Most of the
designs embroider out quite well. Good quality. I have only had problems with
one of the "Vegetable" groups. The outlines of some of the vegetables
(lettuce, zucchini) did not line up properly--that was somewhat annoying!!!!.
I have about 10-12 sets. Amazing Designs just came out with a new "Rose"
set---I probably will be ordering that soon.

Happy embroidering!

Thanks for the input. I purchased the Wrought Iron designs. They are
different in nature so, maybe they will turn out better. I'll report on them
after I use them this weekend.
