Subject: Bobbin work questions

Hi all,
I had the chance to take a free hand embroidery class at Santa Fe
Quilting last month and learned a whole new world was out there. I have
never been interested in the embroidery capacity of the 180 Artista or the
Deco machines due to the cost of the machines and the cards. I don't have
any little ones to justify the expense. BUT...the ideas for freehand
embroidery really turned my interest on. Now I would like to learn about
bobbin work. This has been mentioned on the list in the past, but I don't
recall very much about it. How are the decorative threads, like silk and
heavy yarns wound on the bobbin? Are there any books out there about bobbin
work? HELP! I think I have found a new passion (as if quilting weren't
enough :) ).
Also, I am going to take a class from Katie Pasquini Masopust in August
on her Fractured Landscapes. Anyone ever taken one of her classes or done
one of these quilts? I have the book and have read through it. The amount
of fabric listed is huge. As I will be travelling to the class from out of
town, I can't take my whole stash with me. Any suggestions, other than
buying from the shop as I go along in the class?
Have a good Father's Day, all, and give those Dads a big hug. Janet in
rainy, steamy Fort Worth
