Our Latest Projects

What's keeping us busy? After we return from our great trips, lecturing and teaching all over the country, and meeting great quilters, we get back into the groove by first being with our families and taking care of our pets. When weather permits, we'll soon be working in our yards and gardens. We both love to tend our flowers and vegetables. In fact, Patricia became known as the "Pumpkin Queen" among her friends when her first-time gardening efforts produced mini-pumpkins for almost everyone in town!

We have ideas for several more books and are actively working on them. We'll keep you posted on their progress when things start to happen.

We are very excited about the new program of fabrics we've been working on that will debut at fall market in Houston. You can preview the six new labels on the first page of our web site. We love the new floral designs and very light smoothies. Donna especially loves the print that includes her favorite fruits. (Sorry, no chocolate print yet, Patricia!)

It has been fun to see the wonderful projects designed by students in our new class, Watercolor Quilts--New Dimensions. This workshop takes the technique to another level, including dimensional appliquè, fabric manipulation and embellishment.

Our Shadow Quilt Workshop, which we've been teaching for several years, concentrates on design. Students who have been afraid to step out from making traditional quilts tell us this is a fun experience that encourages them to feel comfortable with design experimentation. For the more confident quilter who is used to designing, the class challenges them to experiment with both design and color. In our last couple of workshops, some students brought their lap top computers and portable printers with them so they can create designs non-stop!

We have enjoyed combining quilting and high-tech. Recently we have seen an increase in the use of quilt design and drawing programs by our students when they design projects. This gave us ideas for several design workshops where students can bring their laptops to class if they wish. Of course, the class will still include those students who prefer pencils and graph paper.
