Question of the Week

Question for the week of August 10, 1998:

Our question this week comes from R Clegg

I'm looking for better and easier ways to piece together crazy quilts. Any suggestions?

jessie :
USE THREAD ...LOL....

Kathy A :
I like the paper piecing method. If you are working with a larger project, like a x-mas stocking 12 x 8", you can draw the outside of the project and cut that into 5 or 6 pieces in a crazy pattern. Then take each of those pieces and draw a crazy pattern onto it. Use paper piecing method for each of the 5 or 6 larger pieces, then sew those pieces together. That will break down a larger project into managable pieces.
Jennifer :
Foundation Piecing, definately. Here's a site for three crazy blocks:

anthony :
i like paper/foundation piecing. a local quilter shared that her secret is to start drawing the design from the outer edges of block inward. if you do on water soluble stabilizer, there's no paper to remove or muslin bulk, and the block is stabilized for embroidery.
