The guild was founded in 1979, and has a current membership of 200 women and men.
The Guild makes and donates Service Quilts to benefit charitable organizations within the Anchorage Community. Each September ALCQ hosts "The Great Alaska Quilt Show" (see info in QuiltShows), which features a Small Quilt Auction as the main fund raiser for the guild. Proceeds go to the Education Fund which defrays costs to bring nationally known quilters to Alaska to teach and lecture. This year, ALCQ is hosting John Flynn, and Jinny Beyer is scheduled for 1996. Dues are $20.00 per year.
For more info, please contact Anchorage Log Cabin Quilters, Inc, PO Box 202582, Anchorage, AK 99520-2582.
We have an ongoing service project; making "love patches" (comfort quilts) which are donated to the Department of Youth and Family Service of Alaska. As of this date, we have donated close to 100 quilts. We also made and donated a quilt to be raffled to raise money for the "Arctic Winter Games". These games were hosted by Eagle River in 1995. We offer six to seven classes each year, taught by our talented members. Classes range from beginner to advanced, paper-piecing to applique. We also hold a small quilt auction during July in conjunction with the Eagle River Bear Paw Festival.
The meetings are open to everyone. Please come and join us.

Our membership has grown from the original 19 members who established the guild in 1991 to approximately 125 members. Our numbers continue to grow with each new meeting. Dues are currently $15.00/year.
With the yearly dues comes the privileges of full membership. You receive a monthly news letter to keep you apprised of all upcoming guild events and news, discounts at local merchants, and the ability to participate in the quilt block of the month contests and our quilt shows. We are a non-profit organization, and the profits of our raffle quilt that is shown at our yearly quilt show goes to help local charities.
We are very proud to host a yearly quilt show in September of each year. In the 1996 show we were able to display over 200 quilts and quilt related items. We were also privileged in having the Keepsake Quilting traveling trunk show which featured their challenge quilt winners over the past several years.
Guild members participate in several auxiliary activities including an informal day meeting, satellite groups, A.B.C. quilts, annual holiday canned food drive, hurrican and flood relief programs, and community exhibits in libraries and festivals.
Many of our quilters have won ribbons, prizes, and recognition at our county fair, as well as contests both locally and nationally. Member's quilts have hung in quilt shows as far away as Kentucky, Missouri, and Pennsylvania. Coos Sand n' Sea Quilters were featured in the September 1994 issue of Lady's Circle Patchwork Quilts magazine. Guild member's quilts were also displayed at an exhibit in the Coos Art Museum in October 1994.
Our guild is dedicated to share, educate and perpetuate the art of quilting. We would love to have you come and join us and to share in the joy of quilting.

We meet the first and third Monday each month, from 9a.m. to 12noon. Currently there are about 40 active members. This is an informal, but organized group. We have a short business meeting, and the rest of the time is devoted to our projects or working on a group effort. Show and tell and sharing are an important part of the meetings. Each year we make and raffle a quilt, and give all net proceeds to local charities. A few times each year we have a special meeting to make small quilts to donate to area agencies for families and children. We put on an annual quilt show, in conjunction with the Rogue River Rooster Crow event. This is on the last Saturday every June. The quilt show is in the Rogue River Middle School gym. About 100 quilts get hung, and a variety of other crafts are displayed. Entries are invited. The show is neither juried nor judged. Viewers choices are announced.
New members and visitors are welcome. Email for more information to: erosas@cdsnet.net
