 2) Take the 3 1/2" squares of background fabric and one of the 2" fabric B squares and place the 2" fabric B square on the 3 1/2" background square as shown, right sides together. Sew on the diagonal line that is marked on the 2" fabric B square.

3) Trim fabric 1/4" from the sewn diagonal line as shown. Press seam toward fabric B.
 4) Place one of the 2" fabric B squares on the 3 1/2" background square on the corner opposite of that completed in Step 3. With the fabrics right side together and the diagonal line placed as shown, sew the fabrics together on the diagonal line.

5) Trim fabric 1/4" from the sewn diagonal line as shown. Press seam toward fabric B.
 6) Place one of the 2" squares of fabric B on the 3 1/2" background square on one of the remaining unsewn corners, right sides together and diagonal line placed as shown. Sew on the diagonal line.

 10) Piece two of the 2" squares of background fabric with one of the 3 1/2" x 2" rectangles of fabric A as shown. Press the seam allowances toward the fabric A rectangle. Repeat with the remaining two 2" background fabric squares and one of the remaining 3 1/2" x 2" fabric A rectangles. This completes the top and bottom row of the quilt Block. The finished rows should measure 6 1/2" x 2".
 11) With the remaining two 3 1/2" x 2" fabric A rectangles and the square in a square unit completed in Step 9, piece the center row of the Block as shown. Press the seams toward the fabric A rectangles. The completed row should measure 6 1/2" x 3 1/2".
 12) Sew the three rows together as shown to complete the Fair and Square Block. Press the seams away from the center row. The finished Block should measure 6 1/2" which includes a 1/4" seam allowance on all sides.
